Huauchinango, Puebla Campus The Universidad de la Sierra, A.C. (USAC) is seeking to fill the position of Coordinator of the Department of Languages & Culture at our Huauchinango, Puebla campus. The coordinator has a critical role in the maintenance and development of the USAC Teaching Internship Program. The coordinator will act as a mentor to visiting instructors and assist them in their professional development as well as in their adjustment to the University and local community. Furthermore, the coordinator will serve on an inter-campus directive committee to ensure a consistent level of quality at all three USAC campuses. The coordinator reports to the Vice Rector of International Affairs and works closely with the Vice Rector of the Huauchinango Campus. Responsibilities include: -Recruit, interview, evaluate and hire all local language faculty; serve on Internship Search Committee to select visiting foreign language interns; -Direct supervisor of all local and visiting language faculty; -Schedule all language courses and make appropriate faculty class assignments; -Develop curricula and teaching materials for new community-based and corporate language classes; -Maintain all course anthologies on CD for distribution to each USAC campus; -Maintain teaching resource file on CD of supplementary lessons and activities; -Teach approximately 8 contact hours per week; -Promote the language program and University in student recruitment tours (minimal travel required); -Serve as a mentor to teaching interns and ensure all support services are available to them; -Develop orientation and teaching resource guides for interns; -Ensure the successful completion of all intern projects and program language activities; -Provide a monthly report regarding departmental activities. Position Requirements: -MA in TESOL, English or closely related field; -Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience and 2 years of administration and/or student advising experience; -Excellent organizational and communication skills; -Attention to detail and quality; -Ability to integrate faculty into a cohesive team; -Experience studying or living abroad; -Communicative fluency in Spanish; -Proficiency in French and CALL desirable; -Teacher training and corporate course development experience desirable. The University: The Universidad de la Sierra, A.C. is an accredited nonprofit private institution that offers undergraduate, graduate, certificate and distance learning programs. At the undergraduate level, USAC offers programs in law, accounting, administration, tourism, information systems, computer science, engineering, and architecture. USAC offers graduate programs in teaching, administration, finances and law. USAC�s certificate programs include education, administration, and taxes. The University has grown to include 3 campuses and has plans for further expansion. At present, USAC has campuses in Huauchinango, Puebla; Puebla, Puebla; and Poza Rica, Veracruz. Program offerings vary at each campus. Location: Huauchinango is a beautiful mountain community of approximately 80,000 inhabitants. It is located in the Sierra Norte of Puebla and is 100 miles northeast of Mexico City (3 hours via bus). The climate varies from hot summers to cold winters. Compensation: The coordinator will receive a competitive monthly salary, round-trip airfare, and a generous paid vacation package. The University will pay all costs associated with obtaining an appropriate visa. Starting Date: Mid July 2000 (flexible) The coordinator will be expected to make a 2 year commitment.
