Post-Doctoral Position in Language Processing The NIMH Training Program in Language Processing at the Psychology Department of the University of Illinois will have an opening for a post doctoral trainee beginning August, 2000. (Exact start date is negotiable.) The appointment will be for 12 months and can be extended to a second year on mutual agreement. Only US citizens or permanent residents are eligible. Although we expect applicants to have some knowledge of psycholinguistics, we encourage those with doctoral degrees in linguistics, computer science, neuroscience, or related fields to apply. Applicants may work in areas such as language production and comprehension, word meaning, reading, neurolinguistics, and acquisition. Faculty involved in the training grant include Kathryn Bock, Gary Dell, Cynthia Fisher, Susan Garnsey, Kevin Miller, George McConkie, Gregory Murphy, and Edward Shoben. Related faculty work in the Linguistics, Education, and East Asian Languages Departments. The UI Psychology Department and Beckman Institute provide advanced technical facilities for carrying out research, including standard reaction-time equipment, ERP equipment (up to 128 channels), eye tracking devices (both fixed and head-mounted), and speech processing facilities.
