JAPANESE LANGUAGE PROCESSING WORKSHOP 2000 Makuhari (Chiba), Japan, July 24th 2000 In recent years, several cross-linguistic models have attempted to explain the processing of head-initial languages as well as head-final languages. In particular, as a language of the latter type, Japanese has drawn considerable interest. However, the limited availability of experimental data on Japanese has made it virtually impossible to verify the accuracy of such models. The present workshop aims to provide a forum for researchers to discuss recent issues in the processing of the Japanese language, with special emphasis on experimental work in adult sentence processing. The workshop will be divided into three sessions with the following topics: Scrambling, Reanalysis, and Methodological Issues. All presentations and discussions will be conducted in Japanese. Participation is free, but pre-registration is required. Please, send an email by July 14 including your name and affiliation (in Japanese and Roman characters), with the subject line "Registration" to jlp2000Mail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuemail.goo.ne.jp Information in Japanese is available at: http://www-tsujii.is.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~etm/jlp2000j.htm ............................................................................ ............................................................................
