The English Department at Aarhus University invites applications for the tenured position of a LEKTOR (equivalent to Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer) in English linguistics with a specialization in English syntax and morphology, in pragmatics and/or in language acquisition research (L1 and/or L2). The position is available as of 1 February 2001. Candidates should have - a Ph.D. (or the equivalent) in English linguistics or in neighboring areas involving English, - a strong record of research in at least one of the above-mentioned areas of specialization as demonstrated by publications in international, peer-reviewed journals, - teaching experience in several fields of English linguistics including at least one of the above-mentioned areas of specialization, - administrative experience with, for example, research projects and grants. The successful candidate will - teach graduate and undergraduate courses in English linguistics, including language proficiency, - continue a strong record of research, publication and grant-getting, - share a fair burden of administrative responsibilities. All instruction at the English Department is in English. However, other things being equal, candidates who are proficient in Danish will be preferred. Candidates who do not speak Danish will be expected to learn enough Danish to participate fully in the work of the department within two years.
