The appointment is to begin on April 1, 2002. Applicants must be qualified and willing to participate fully in educational and administrative capacities to ICU's college-wide, integrated, academically oriented English Language Program. Additionally, applicants need to have demonstrated expertise (through teaching experience as well as a record of publication) or show promise in one of the following areas of language-related specialization: Contrastive studies (Japanese and English) with an emphasis in translation from both theoretical and practical perspectives; Psycholinguistics; Language and Computers ( e.g., corpus linguistics, computational linguistics, CALL). Doctorate in the field of specialization and native or near native English competence required. A level of Japanese competence sufficient to permit effective participation in meetings and committees where Japanese is the language of discussion is also a requirement for this position.
