Faculty Recruitment for The Division of Languages

The Division of Languages at International Christian University
announces a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor
rank, in its English department. The appointment is to begin on April 1,
2002.

Applicants must be qualified and willing to participate fully in
educational and administrative capacities to ICU's college-wide,
integrated, academically oriented English Language Program.
Additionally, applicants need to have demonstrated expertise (through
teaching experience as well as a record of publication) or show promise
in one of the following areas of language-related specialization: 

Contrastive studies (Japanese and English) with an emphasis in
translation from both theoretical and practical perspectives;
Psycholinguistics; Language and Computers ( e.g., corpus linguistics, 
computational linguistics, CALL).

Doctorate in the field of specialization and native or near native
English competence required. A level of Japanese competence sufficient
to permit effective participation in meetings and committees where
Japanese is the language of discussion is also a requirement for this
position.
