Dear Linguists, Does anyone know who is the first to use the term 'reporting'? Or do you know an umbrella term which covers reported thought and perception as well as reported speech? As far as I know, Thompson (1994) uses 'reporting,' and Janssen and van der Wurff (1996) (and many others) employ 'reported speech.' Thank you very much in advance. I will post a summary if I receive enough responses. Minako NAKAYASU nakayasumMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuehotmail.com nakayasu
