Hi, I am looking for a more efficient way of plotting formant frequencies on an x-y axis. I have been using Microsoft Excel until recently but I am currently trying to do this with a large corpus, and Excel requires way too much work for this. I would welcome any suggestions for an alternative method. Please reply here: zsfagyalMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issueuiuc.edu Thank you, Suzanna
Dear Linguists, I'm posting the query below on behalf of one of our students here at Azad University. Please send emails to her at <shayand135Mail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issueparsiannet.com> or <shayanbahar

Lotfi. ============================================================== Dear Linguists, I'm an MA student of TESOL at Azad University (Esfahan), and I'm doing my MA proposal on learning English idioms. I want to see if there's a difference in this regard between two types of verbal idioms, viz. verbs followed by an internal argument (e.g. 'to break news') and those preceded by an external argument (e.g. 'the Devil take you'). Please let me know if you can think of ANY related works, both theoretical and empirical, that I may review for my thesis. Best, Claudet Artoonian. - --------------------------------------------------------------
