Software Engineer - Natural Language Processing

Due to ongoing expansion, Canon Research Centre Europe (CRE)
has a position for a first class Software Engineer in the
Information Retrieval Group. Applications from experienced
software engineers and exceptional recent graduates are 
invited for the following position:

Job Specification:
 * to design and develop prototypes and product-level software
 for multi-lingual information retrieval

 * to perform development activities as an integral member of an
 R&D team working on natural language processing and information
 retrieval

Requirements:
 * experience of building robust, high performance NLP
 or IR applications

 * excellent software engineering skills in a variety of languages
 e.g. C/C++ and Java

 * excellent academic background: honours degree with significant
 computing content

Desirable:
 * experience of working on commercial software projects

 * track record of initiative and teamwork in software
 development projects

 * expertise in the areas of:
	- multi-lingual IR systems
 	- C++ standard template library
 	- databases
