Georgetown U German, Washington DC 20057 http://www.georgetown.edu/departments/german Assistant Professor of German The German Department at Georgetown University, Washington, DC, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, to begin with the fall semester of 2001. The position is central to the Department's commitment to preparing its graduate students in the area of teaching through a mentored TA development program. The Department's collaborative culture and its four-year integrated content-oriented and task-based undergraduate curriculum provide a highly favorable context for coordinating various curricular activities, planning and implementing TA- and faculty-development efforts, enhancing the use of technology in instruction, and conducting research focused on diverse aspects of instructed SLA. Teaching arrangements are 2/1 courses (graduate or undergraduate) per academic year. The successful candidate will have earned a Ph.D. with a strong background in German, Applied Linguistics/SLA, and will have native or near-native fluency in German.
