MUCHMORE is an international research project on cross-lingual information access in the medical domain, jointly funded by NSF and the European Commission (fifth framework). MUCHMORE aims to provide a framework in which at the same time existing technologies can be integrated and refined and new technologies can be developed. Main emphasis in the project will be on developing new ways of using and extending concept hierarchies in cross-lingual indexing, classification, and retrieval. Coordination of MUCHMORE is with DFKI Language Technology (Prof. Dr. H. Uszkoreit), further partners are: Stanford University (CSLI); Carnegie Mellon University (Language Technologies Institute); Eurospider GmbH; Xerox Europe (XRCE); University Hospital Frankfurt (Zinfo). In the context of MUCHMORE, we are looking for a (senior) researcher with at least 2 years of experience in machine learning for NLP, more specifically in the application of classification and clustering methods in combination with linguistic methods in areas like word sense disambiguation, relation extraction, information extraction, document classification, etc. DFKI offers competitive salaries, excellent computational facilities, and the opportunity to work in an expanding team that combines leading-edge research in language technology with the development of innovative applications.
