November 2000 until 31. December 2002. There is a possibility for an extension beginning on 1. January 2003. Candidates should hold a Dr. phil. or a Ph.D. and have a research background in language change, in morphology (especially derivational morphology), phonology or syntax, and syntax, in a philology (other than German). The candidate will conduct research in a project on markedness and complexity in language change (a sketch of the project's program can be found at http://www.zas.gwz-berlin.de/projects/diachron/index.htm). The payment is according to the normal range for full-time researchers ('wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter', BAT-O IIa) in Germany, with details depending on age and marital status. Knowledge of German is helpful but not required. Applications should include a CV, the names of two references, sample publications, and short statements outlining future research plans.
