We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually

then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

Subject: Chimp gesture references
I am looking for recent references to chimp (both common and bonobo)
gesture. Please note that I do not need references to studies about
the linguistic chimps (Washoe, Kanzi etc.). I am looking for studies
of naturally occurring gesture, either in zoo or wild populations
that have not been exposed to human interaction.
thanks
Fay

Would anyone happen to know whether there exists a discussion group
on the Net specifically addressing English Etymology?
Many thanks,
Dennis Philps
