SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS - LSRL XXXI LSRL XXXI University of Illinois - Chicago April 19-22, 2001 MAIN SESSION: All areas of Romance linguistics: phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, SLA/bilingualism, historical linguistics. Keynote speakers: W. Leo Wetzels (Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam) Maria-Luisa Zubizarreta (University of Southern California) PARASESSION: "Language in Context: sociolinguistics and pragmatics of the Romance languages." Keynote speaker: Ricardo Otheguy (CUNY, Graduate College) Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks plus 10 minutes for discussion. Authors are asked to send six (6) copies of an anonymous abstract and one additional copy with the author's name and affiliation (the latter will be reproduced in the Meeting Handbook if the abstract is accepted for presentation). Abstracts should not be more than two pages long (including examples and references) in 12-point type. Margins should be at least one inch wide (or 2.5 cm). Additionally, include a 3''x 5'' abstract submission card with printed paper title, name of author(s), affiliation(s), address, phone number and e-mail address. Submissions are limited to a maximum of one individual and one joint abstract per author. Faxed or e-mail submissions cannot be accepted. To facilitate the review process, please (i) write Main Session or Parasession on the envelope and (ii) if the abstract is for the main session, write the main area on the top-right corner of the abstract. Preference will be given to presentations not duplicated at other major conferences (e.g. CLS, LSA, NELS, WCCFL etc). Authors are asked to indicate prior or planned presentations of their papers on the abstract submission card. Deadline for receipt of abstracts: December 8, 2000.
