LINGUISTICS: Tenure Track Assistant Professor to teach and conduct research in literacy acquisition by L2 learners of English. Half-time at Queens College's Linguistics and Communication Disorders Department, half-time at the CUNY Research Institute for the Study of Language in Urban Society (RISLUS), CUNY Graduate Center. Responsibilities include: research on literacy issues in multilingual urban environment, developing fundable research projects, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on developmental reading and writing skills. Earned doctorate related to language and literacy required, plus demonstrable research and teaching experience in literacy issues involving urban L2 minority students; familiarity with various research paradigms; knowledge of sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, first and second language acquisition. Knowledge of Spanish, English dialectal variation, and issues involving Latino students desirable. Salary: $32,703-$57,049, commensurate with qualifications and achievement; excellent fringes.
