We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

Subject: Textbook Selections for Library Resources
Our junior college is about to begin offering first year linguistics,
and I have been put in charge of spending about $3,000 in library
resources to support this new course.
Does anyone on Linguistlist have suggestions about the most
appropriate books, journals, and other materials to support
linguistics teaching at this level?
please e-mail to

I will post my final recommendations to Linguist when done.
Thanks!
