ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: � Maintain and enhance current database system for development and management of multilingual translation dictionaries � Integrate, maintain and coordinate lexical resources from L&H development groups and external sources � Design, implement and maintain client/server configuration and functionality for shared databases � Support and advise Linguistics Department staff in use and analysis of data resources and applications � Support and advise Programming staff in development of lexical applications and tools � Support and advise Quality Assurance and Configuration Management staff in data management, production and testing issues � Serve as an internal and external liaison for data warehousing � Perform data auditing on a quarterly basis EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE: � Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience � Minimum one year professional experience in relational database administration � Knowledge of Microsoft Access (VBA) and/or Visual Basic programming, including Jet engine and DAO � Knowledge of SQL and client/server database architecture and administration � Experience in multilingual database localization and internationalization preferred � Familiarity with scripting languages (Perl, VBScript) preferred � Strong oral and written communication and documentation skills � Good working knowledge of one of the following languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, or Portuguese � Advanced understanding of general Linguistics issues and application to MT data management Ability to work both independently and in close cooperation with Linguistics and Programming Departments
