McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, Illinois invites applications for the nine month tenure track position of Spanish/French Instructor. RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching responsibilities will consist of 16 hours per semester (12 contact hours/4 hours lab). Teach first and second year Spanish and one section of first year French per semester. Assist in curriculum development through preparation of additional courses and/or participation in revision of current courses. Help create cultural programs for the department/college. General involvement as a faculty member in participatory college governance, and advisement of students as per the faculty job description. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Spanish with minor or substantial course work in French. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish. Understanding of native culture. Community college experience preferred. Commitment to the mission of the community college and working with beginning students. Demonstrated teaching experience. EFFECTIVE DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: August 18, 2000 SALARY: Placement on salary schedule is dependent upon years of experience and degree.
