We are looking for a dynamic research scientist with expertise in SPEECH RECOGNITION and DIALOGUE PROCESSING to help start a new research project at the recently formed Institute for Creative Technologies of the University of Southern California in Marina del Rey, CA. The system being built incorporates speech processing, dialogue, agent-based reasoning, virtual reality, and sophisticated immersive multimedia displays in a large-scale new project that has links to research at several USC centers including the Information Sciences Institute (ISI) and the Integrated Media Systems Center (IMSC). The candidate should have a Ph.D. in either Speech Recognition or Natural Language Processing (with emphasis on discourse) and strong abilities in the both areas. The successful candidate may choose to join the Computer Science faculty of USC as well, and eventually supervise graduate students in addition to performing the research.
