International Review of Applied Linguistics in Language Teaching (IRAL) Editors: Peter Jordens and Eric Kellerman Assistant Editor: Kaoru Yoshioka ISSN 0019-042X International Review of Applied Linguistics in Language Teaching is devoted to problems of general and applied linguistics in their various forms. The language of publication is English. Statement from the new editors: Following in the tradition established by Professor Gerhard Nickel, the new Editors wish to maintain IRAL's long-term interest in areas of research which concern language in all its forms. We do not believe in narrow specialization, but envisage a journal whose contributions will continue to speak to a wide audience of scholars, practitioners and students. In this way, we also hope to put readers in touch with work with which they might not ordinarily come into contact, but which might nonetheless prove interesting and relevant. We would therefore welcome contributions on first and second language acquisition and attrition (including sign language and gesture), bilingualism, language contact, pidgins and creoles, Language for Specific Purposes, instructed language learning, language technology, mother-tongue education, lexicology, terminology and translation. Whatever the topic, our first criterion for selection is that papers should be theoretically grounded and based on careful research and method.
