Ideally candidates should already have some experience of teaching at university level and be able to demonstrate research and publication achievement and potential. Candidates should have a broad research and teaching record in the grammatical description and analysis of English (from all historical periods of the language), and have expertise in the techniques for analysis and evaluation of text structure. The appointee will be expected to teach, at all undergraduate levels, the details of syntactic modelling as they relate to Modern English, and be able to describe and analyse syntactic phenomena in historical, regional, literary and sociolinguistic contexts. Appointment will be made at Lecturer A scale (currently �18,731 - �23,256). The post is tenable from October 2001.
