With "Lost in Atlantis" opening this weekend with an animated Linguist
as the chief protagonist and the Egyptologist in "Star-Gate" usually
described as one, I started to wonder whether anybody could suggest
the field-work adventures of real linguists (actual or composite) that
would make a commercially viable film--even if it would probably NOT
be a blockbuster?

Dear friends:

My name is Oxana Borzdyko. I am a Ph.D. student in linguistics at the 
University of Western Ontario. By writting to Linguist List I would like to 
get into contact with some speakers of Slovenian who could briefly advise me 
on grammaticality of the following six senteces in Slovenian. I would 
greatly appreciate your feedback!

(1)	Groz-a in strah je prevzel-a vso vas.
(2)	Groz-a je prevzel-a vso vas in strah.
(3)	______ (Both) groz-a in strah je prevzel-a vso vas.
(4)	____________ (This is/ These are) groz-a in strah _______ (that) je 
prevzel-a vso vas.
(5)	____________ (Terrible-plural) groz-a in strah je prevzel-a vso vas.
(6)	Groz-a in strah ______________ (have seized-plural) vso vas.

It would be very helpful if for agrammatical sentences the corresponding 
grammatical variants were given. I would not need too many explanations 
about Slovenian language itself, because I speak Russian and can use my 
knowledge to deduce things about Slovenian. Thank you very much!
