Subject: Suggestions for Linguistic Book Purchases

I've been given 1700 US dollars to spend on linguistics books for a
University library that at present has none. It's important that there be a
reasonably wide range of fields covered. Does anyone have any suggestions,
either for a complete list or for individual titles? I'll compile any
suggestions into a list for the list's future reference. Thanks.

Does anyone know what "Genie's" current situation is? Is she still
alive? If so, where does she live? Is there any data on her current
