Forwarded message from Richard E. McCarty, Dean, Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, Johns Hopkins University: Dear Colleagues: I regret to inform you that our colleague, Peter Jusczyk, professor of psychology in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, died unexpectedly on Thursday while attending a scientific conference in California. He was 53. Professor Jusczyk, who had a joint appointment as professor of cognitive science, has been a valued and distinguished member of the Johns Hopkins faculty since 1996 and was recently elected to the prestigious Society of Experimental Psychologists. He was a world authority on the development of language in children. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Jusczyk Family Scholarship Fund, c/o Brown University, Box 1893, Providence, R.I. 02912. The scholarship supports student-athletes at Brown, Peter's alma mater, who pursue higher degrees in the sciences.Mail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
