PENN STATE, DEPT. OF SPANISH, ITALIAN & PORTUGUESE Spanish linguistics, to begin August 2002. Rank open; tenure-track or tenured, depending on qualifications. Primary specialization in phonology/phonetics preferred; sociolinguistics, morphology, and/or acquisition also desirable. Minimum qualifications include Ph. D. in hand at time of appointment, native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English, evidence of excellence in teaching, and strong commitment to research scholarship. Responsibilities include supervising graduate student research and teaching graduate seminars and undergraduate courses. Possibility of participating in the interdisciplinary program in Linguistics and Applied Language Studies. Send complete dossier, including at least 3 letters of recommendation, to John M.
