It is with great sadness that we at MIT announce the death, on Monday, October 8, of our colleague and friend, Professor Emeritus Ken Hale. A special set of web pages, entitled "A tribute to Ken Hale" (http://mit.edu/linguistics/www/ken_hale_tribute.html), were created in 1999 to celebrate Ken, in honor of his retirement and in celebration of his many decades as a brilliant researcher, inspiring teacher and advisor. We invite you to read them. Announcements of forthcoming memorial events will be made in this space when details are known. A fuller obituary will be sent to this list in the near future. -MIT Department of Linguistics and Philosophy - ************************************************************************* David Pesetsky [pesetskMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuemit.edu] Department of Linguistics and Philosophy E39-237 Massachusetts Institute of Technology Cambridge, MA 02139 USA (617) 253-0957 office (617) 253-5017 fax http://web.mit.edu/linguistics/www/pesetsky.home.html
