Project aims: Although there are first analyses of hyper texts and annotation graphs available on a descriptive level, there exists neither a formally satisfying theory nor a logically exact representation of them. The onhand project tries to develop a formal framework for hyper texts and annotation graphs that is distinguished by an essential use of coalgebraic methods. Coalgebraic techniques are preferable over algebraic ones, because hyper texts and annotations of discourses are usually associated with graphs, and the natural mathematical description of graphs is given by coalgebras. This formal framework provides the mathematical model by which a logical-semantical representation of hyper texts and annotation graphs will be made possible. This opens the opportunity to analyse the consistency and practicability of the proposed models. The theoretical results will also be used to exemplify certain practical applications. Requirements * m.sc. or m.a. in (theoretical) computational linguistics, computer science, or mathematics * ph.d. in (theoretical) computational linguistics, computer science, or mathematics desirable * strong formal background * knowledge of universal algebra * knowledge of universal coalgebra desirable * interest in hyper texts, annotation graphs, and markup languages useful Disabled people will be prefered when having the same qualification. The University of Tbingen strives to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching, and therefore encourages qualified female scientists to apply. The salary follows German civil servants standard (Vergtungsgruppe BAT IIa) and amounts to approximately 43.000 Euro brutto varying by age and maritial status.
