FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS The 4th International Conference on Discourse Anaphora and Anaphor Resolution (DAARC2002) University of Lisbon, Faculty of Sciences September 18 - 20, 2002 Organisers: Antonio Branco, Tony McEnery and Ruslan Mitkov Following the success of the previous international colloquia on Discourse Anaphora and Anaphor Resolution at Lancaster in 1996, 1998 and 2000, the next colloquium in the series will take place in Lisbon in 2002. DAARC2002 aims to continue the trend set by the previous DAARC events, which brought together a wide variety of research on discourse anaphora and anaphor resolution. Our goal will be to review this diverse field and consider the results obtained in recent years. The DAARC2002 colloquium will take place on the 18-20th September 2002 in Lisbon, Portugal. We would like to invite anyone currently researching in the areas of discourse anaphora and anaphor resolution, from any methodological perspective or framework, to submit a paper for DAARC2002. The closing date for submission is 1/4/02. Notification of acceptance will be sent by 13/5/02. Selected papers are expected by 15/6/02 to be included in the proceedings. Format for abstract suibmission: Submitted abstracts of papers for oral and poster presentations should consist of about 800 words. Demonstrations of LR and related tools will be reviewed as well. Please send an outline of about 400 words. If a demo is connected to a paper, please attach the outline to the paper abstract. All submissions should include a separate title page, providing the following information: type of proposal (paper for oral presentation, paper for poster presenta- tion, demo, paper plus demo); the title to be printed in the programme of the Conference; names and affiliations of the authors or proposers; the full address of the first author (or a contact person), including phone, fax, email, URL; the required facilities for presentation (overhead pro- jector, data display; other hardware, platforms, communi- cations); and 5 keywords.
