Dear Subscribers, As the end of the year approaches, we at the Linguist List are amazed at how much the site has grown during 2001. We've published over 3000 issues and gained more than 2000 new subscribers. This means that we now mail an average of nine issues of LINGUIST to over 15,000 linguistics professionals worldwide, every day! We've also been busy redesigning our web site and instituting a database system that will help ensure that all information stored on LINGUIST is up-to-date, accurate, and easily retrievable. It has always been our goal to provide the linguistics community with information about the field as soon as it is available, and to do so free of charge. While our moderators and review editors donate their time, LINGUIST now provides fellowships to a crew of 15 student editors and programmers. As you can imagine, our operating budget has grown along with our size and services! As the end of the year approaches, we'd like to point out that although you can donate to LINGUIST at any time, this may be an optimal time of year for some of you for tax purposes. Linguist List is a non-profit organization and receipts can be issued for donations. As in the past, we have t-shirts with the Linguist logo to give to donors as a symbol of thanks. We have baby t-shirts as well, just in time for the holidays. If you wish, we will be happy to send you a t-shirt with a donation of $25 or more. You can donate by credit card by using the online form at our web site: http://linguistlist.org/donation.html or send a check to: The LINGUIST Editorial Support Fund c/o Helen Aristar-Dry Dept. of English Eastern Michigan U.
