Subject: Third East Nusantara Conference

Second Announcement of the
THIRD EAST NUSANTARA CONFERENCE
To be held at Leiden University on 18,19,20 June 2001.

This conference is jointly organized by the Spinoza project on Lexicon
and Syntax at Leiden University and the Language and Cognition Group of
the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen, the
Netherlands.

This year the East Nusantara conference on languages spoken, roughly,
between Bali and Papua (Indonesia) will be organized around the
following three themes:

Clause integration (organizers: Ger Reesink and Miriam van Staden)

Possessive constructions (organizers: Marian Klamer and John Bowden)

Adaptations of Malay (organizer: Lourens de Vries)

Following last year's success, instead of formal papers, we invite
participants to fill out questionnaires on these three themes and to
read in advance the questionnaires others have filled out. During the
workshops these will be the vantage point for our discussions. The first
two questionnaires, on clause integration and language contact, are now
available for downloading at:

http://www.mpi.nl/world/E-Nusantara/index.html

The third one on possessive constructions will be added soon.

Conference fees are NLG 150,-- for non-students and NLG 75,-- for
students, to be paid at registration on June 18.
Fees include the workshop papers, handouts, coffee/tea and lunches. They
do not cover travel expenses and hotel costs.

For further information and for the questionnaires please consult our
web page, which is updated regularly, or contact Miriam van Staden:
