Mathews St. Urbana Illinois 61801 USA The Department of Linguistics at the University of Illinois is seeking to make a visiting appointment in syntax (rank open) for the Spring semester 2002, (or a half-time appointment for the academic year 2001-02). Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in teaching, a broad intellectual engagement with the field of linguistics, and a theoretically informed research specialization in some area of syntax. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a total of two courses, including an advanced seminar on a topic of current interest. Expertise in morphology, computational linguistics, phrase-structure grammar a plus. Applications received by April 16, 2001 will receive fullest consideration.
