Second language writing seems to have become a legitimate area of inquiry within composition studies, as evidenced by a growing number of sessions related to this topic at this year's Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) Annual Convention. Many of the papers and panels on ESL are indexed on page 28 of CCCC 2001 program book. In addition, there will be a number of special events related to second language writing: - ---------------- Wednesday 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. MW.1. Responding to Second Language Writers in the Classroom: Foundations and Guidelines (Plaza Court 2, Plaza Building, Concourse Level) - ---------------- Wednesday 1:30-5 p.m. AW.1. A Question of 'Double Standards'?: Assessing Second Language Writers in Higher Education (Plaza Court 2, Plaza Building, Concourse Level) - ---------------- Thursday 6:45 - 7:45 p.m. S1.13. Special Interest Group on Second Language Writing: Integrating L2 Issues into CCCC (Tower Court B, Tower Building, Second Level) Joy Reid, former president of TESOL and author of TEACHING ESL WRITING (Regents/Prentice Hall, 1993) will discuss the relationship between CCCC and TESOL. Also at this meeting, Paul Kei Matsuda will present and discuss the CCCC Statement on Second Language Writing and Writers, which has recently been adopted by CCCC and endorsed by TESOL. - ---------------- Saturday 9:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Second Language Writing Committee Open Meeting (Governor's 16, Plaza Building, Concourse Level) This meeting is open to all CCCC members. Participants will discuss and plan second language writing panels, workshops and SIG meeting for CCCC 2002.
