Every year, the Linguistics Department at the University of Maryland organizes MAYFEST, a workshop where speakers are invited to report on a variety of issues related to one theme. This year our theme celebrates the department's recently enhanced Cognitive Neuroscience of Language laboratory. We will examine recent progress at attempts to bridge the study of language with studies of neuroscience and genetics. Invited speakers and commentators include: Rita Berndt Martha Burton Brian Byrne Guinevere Eden David Embick Bob Frank Greg Hickok Edith Kaan Barbara Landau Alec Marantz Colin Phillips David Poeppel Mabel Rice Riitta Salmelin Lokendra Shastri Mark Steedman The workshop will be held May 18-20, 2001, in Marie Mount Hall, on the College Park campus of the University of Maryland. We welcome visitors to the workshop. We will be charging a nominal registration fee which is discounted if you register on or before May 1st. If you plan to come and need hotel accomodations, please call and reserve hotel rooms well in advance-the workshop occurs the weekend before commencement.
