The candidate would design and implement a module that identifies elliptical constructions, locates target expressions for the ellipses and copies appropriate elements to yield a more fully articulated logical form representation. Candidates should have a solid grounding in syntax and logical form representations. The NLP group works on Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Korean and Spanish. Familiarity with several of these languages, or at least with the typological issues pertinent to ellipsis, is important for the successful completion of this work. Programming experience is a definite plus.
