The Division is responsible for primary and secondary English language teacher education programmes at the preservice and in-service levels. Due to anticipated expansion in inservice student numbers ELL invites applications for positions in the areas of primary and secondary pedagogy. In addition to lecturing duties staff are expected to supervise student teachers during the school-based practicum. Pedagogical positions with specialisation in one or more of the following: Primary teacher education Secondary English language education Secondary Literature education Second language teaching and learning Reading theory and pedagogy Language testing and assessment Language across the curriculum Qualifications: Candidates should possess professional teaching qualification and relevant qualified teaching experience at the tertiary level. Candidates with a relevant PhD will have an advantage over those with an MA in Applied Linguistics or Literature. ELL also invites applications for positions in the teaching of Linguistics. General Linguistics positions. Specialisation in one or more of the following areas would be an advantage: Psycholinguistics Sociolinguistics General Linguistics (Introductory academic courses) Qualifications: Candidates should possess a relevant PhD. Qualifications: Candidates should possess professional teaching qualification and relevant qualifiedteaching experience at the tertiary level. An MA in Applied Linguistics would be an advantage. TESL (EAP) positions to teach and help administer intensive communication skills programmes: These are rigorous courses which prepare EFL students for an English medium university education in fields of study such as engineering and science. Qualifications: Applicants must have an MA in TESL or Applied Linguistics and four years of relevant full-time teaching experience at the tertiary level.
