Bibliography
Accounting is a field of economy, and perhaps law, whose importance
and role increase with each passing day. One of the most interesting
observation one can make about accounting texts is their necessity for
accuracy, or their need for the correct word.
This dictionary was created to answer that need. It is aimed at
accountants, professional translators, revisers and writers, as well
as students and teachers in translation and accounting. It includes
essential notions of accounting and often used terms. Each entry
comprises a definition, followed by synonyms, abbreviations and french
terms as well as linguistic and encyclopedic notes.
The most avant-gardist particularity about this book is the presence
of cooccurents and phraseologies - these elements of language that are
too often neglected in dictionaries. As everyone knows, finding the
right way of saying something is extremely difficult, even for
experienced professionals. Thus, cooccurents and phraseologies will
indubitably help anyone who writes or translates accounting texts in
english.
Philippe Caignon has a Ph.D in linguistics and a M.A. in
translation. He is presently a teacher at Concordia University, in
Montreal. His domain of research are accounting, economy and
bio-technologies in the fields of translation and terminology.
