Dear Subscribers,

With less than $1,000 to go, we are on the point of meeting our goal
for this year's fund drive! Thanks to the generosity of everyone
listed below, we have raised $47,102.

We do not get any government support for our daily running costs. We
depend on you, our subscribers, to help us support our twelve student
editors, and to help us pay for unexpected and fiendishly expensive
repairs to our server (which you will know was behaving erratically if
you tried to access our site at certain times over the past few days).

Please make a donation to help us reach our $48,000 target, so that we
can continue providing all our services and continue adding new
features to our website.

A lot of our editors come from outside the United States, and we so we
really appreciate the difficulty of dealing with US dollars if that is
not your native currency. Up to now, we have been unable to accept
other currencies because of the huge cost of conversion. We get
charged two fees, so that a 100 euro donation is only worth about $40
by the time it reaches our account, even though its true value is
closer to $90.

However, thanks to Pius ten Hacken, we now have a European bank
account. Pius is a member of the LINGUIST List Advisory board, and
has made an extraordinary effort to organize this new account and help
us maintain it.

So now, donations can be made by bank transfer with reduced charges
compared to non-credit card donations from any country outside USA.

Please note that while they are much reduced, charges still apply, so

charges depending on the country of origin. Puis will also arrange
transfer forms ("Einzahlungsscheine") for donations from Switzerland;
again, please contact him.

If you use this account, and we hope you do, please send an email to

linguistlinguistlist.org to help us in our administration. As you
see, Pius has taken a large task upon himself, and we are truly
grateful for the time and energy he has spent in helping LINGUIST.

drive issue (#13.1174) for more details.

If you'd like to pay by credit card or in US dollars, please go to

there you have the choice of donating straight away by credit card
using our secure form, or you can send us a check later. If you do
send a check, please make it payable in US dollars; we get charged
about $50 a time (really!) to convert currency (no such problems with
a credit card). If you want to use another currency, please use our
new Swiss bank account.
