USA Today 21 May 2002 http://www.usatoday.com/life/cyber/2002/05/21/cuneiform.htm SUMERIAN DICTIONARY PROJECT The five-thousand-year-old cuneiform writing system used starting around 3200 B.C. by Babylon, Chaldea, and other civilizations of Mesopotamia, is going online in dictionary, photographic and 3D forms, and a team led by Sumerian-language expert Steve Tinney of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology is translating cuneiform into English online (http://ccat.sas.upenn.edu/~melindag/psdmain.html). The work is being partly supported by grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
