Hi all, I'm trying to track down a reference for the idea that exocentric verbal compounds (like push-chair and answerphone) are somewhat productive in British English and not productive at all in North American English. I realize that it may or may not be true that exocentric compounds are more productive in British English than elsewhere. I am nevertheless interested in tracking down a reference for the point. I'm sure I read it somewhere! Thanks in advance for any help. Elena Nicoladis elenanMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issueualberta.ca
Does anyone know of an IPA font for the Palm operating system (i.e. a .pdb file)? I'd like to be able to use my PDA for phonetic transcription. I've tried creating such a font using FontHack, but without success. Dr. Robert Kirchner Assistant Professor Linguistics Dept., 4-20 Assiniboia Hall U.
