University or Organization: OGI School of Science & Engineering Rank of Job: subject recruiter Specialty Areas Required: Computational Linguistics Required Language(s): English (ENG) Description: WE NEED YOUR HELP! Do you know anyone involved in non-profit organizations in different parts of the United States that need money? Here is an interesting fund-raising opportunity for them. They would arrange to have their members, and anyone else they know in their geographic region, participate in a cellular phone speech data collection. Using their cell phones, participants will call out toll free number and read items from prompt sheets to our voice recording system. In return, we will donate $5 to their organization for every caller who completes the 10 to 15 minutes session, for a total of up to $3350. The purpose of this collection is to build better speech recognizing software. To achieve our goal we need to record samples of many different people talking on a cellular telephone. The age and gender of the callers must be balanced and they need to call from different noise environments.
