Description:

The Psycholinguistics Group in the Department of Computational
Linguistics, Saarland University is seeking to fill a research
position in the area of Computational Linguistics. The group has an
active profile in human language processing research, which includes
on-line experimental studies (eye-tracking), computational modeling,
and statistical NLP.

Computational Linguist: We are especially interested in developing
incremental models of human syntactic parsing and semantic
processing. Knowledge of one or more of the following is desirable:
(probabilistic) parsing techniques, machine learning of natural
language, latent-semantic analysis, connectionist language modeling,
and experience working with large corpora.

This is primarily a research position, although some research related
teaching will also be involved (particularly for the experimental
psycholinguist). Candidates should have research experience in a
relevant subject area, and ideally hold a PhD. The positions are on
the BAT IIa scale (roughly up to Euro 40K per annum, depending on age
and family status) and are tenable for 2-3 years in the first
instance, with good possibilities for renewal. Positions are available

The Department offers state-of-the-art research facilities including,
high-end computer servers and workstations, head-mounted (SMI) and DPI
eye-tracking equipment, and software and corpus infrastructure.
Saarland University has an international profile in computational
linguistics, cognitive science and computer science. The research
environment is further supported by a European Graduate School for
''Language Technology and Cognitive Systems'' (joint with Edinburgh
University) and a Centre of Excellence (SFB 378) in the area of
''Resource Adaptive Cognitive Processes''.
