The Linguistics Department at the University of Maryland-College Park is happy to announce this year's Balckwell/Maryland Lectures in Language and Cognition: Three Lectures by Lila Gleitman Novemeber 13 - 15, 2002 University of Maryland at College Park Nov 13, 2:00 - 5:00pm "Does the language we speak affect the way we think?" Nov 14, 9:00am - 12:00pm "Building a first vocabulary: Are children different from adults?" Nov 15, 10:00am - 1:00pm "Faux modularity in language learning: Epiphany and other learning processes." All lectures will be held in the Maryland Room of Marie Mount Hall on the College Park campus. The Blackwell/Maryland Lectures in Language & Cognition presents the best of contemporary research and debate on language and its ties with cognitive science.
