'Linguistic areas, convergence and language change' Call for Papers Annual Conference of the North West Centre for Linguistics (NWCL) University of Manchester, England 22-23 November, 2002 Speakers include: Lyle Campbell (Canterbury) Walter Bisang (Mainz) Peter Bakker (Aarhus) April McMahon (Sheffield) R. L. Trask (Sussex) Abstracts are invited for 30-minute presentations on aspects related to areal convergence and language change. Preference will be given to papers that survey one or more linguistic areas and assess its theoretical implications for historical linguistics and contact linguistics.
