These Conferences aim to explore the two modes of linguistic communication in their situations of usage. For this second Conference, the specific focus will be on promoting cross-fertilization of concepts from various research fields. The presentations will be organized along three strands: linguistic, literature and language education, and multimedia and information technology. Plenary speakers: Ronald Carter, University of Nottingham, UK Suzanne Eggins, University of New South Wales, Australia Rebecca Hughes, University of Nottingham, UK David Olson, University of Toronto, Canada Papers should be 20 minutes in duration, with a further 10 minutes allowed for discussion. The conference will include sessions devoted to theoretical linguistics, sociolinguistics, and applied linguistics. Call for papers--REMINDER: Abstracts for linguistics sessions of the KFLC will be accepted until November 8, 2002. Papers will be 20 minutes in length, followed by a 10-minute discussion period.
