- ------------------------------------------------------------- M.Sc. in Developmental Linguistics One year taught master's course Theoretical and Applied Linguistics School of Philosophy, Psychology & Language Sciences University of Edinburgh, UK - ------------------------------------------------------------- We are now accepting applications for the academic year 2003-2004 (beginning in October 2003). The aim of this one-year taught master's course is to provide (a) an advanced understanding of current research on first & second language acquisition, attrition and language change from the perspectives of linguistics and cognitive psychology, and (b) the methodological skills needed to conduct novel research in these fields. It is aimed at students with a background in linguistics, psychology or relevant areas. The programme consists of two and a half terms of course work, followed by project work, which results in a dissertation. Teaching is provided jointly by Theoretical and Applied Linguistics, Informatics and Psychology. The University of Edinburgh has one of the largest concentrations of language researchers, studying the formal, computational, psychological and social aspects of language. The language community includes members from different subject areas with rich collaborative links with many outside institutions.
