Doug Whalen has done us a service with his survey of dissertations and field linguistics. In light of this, I'd mention that Verna Stutzman (of SIL) will be teaching a course at next summer's LSA Summer Institute which is largely training in the LinguaLinks software. This is a very good tool for managing field data, particularly for lexical entries and semantic relations between them. The course title is ''Lexicography and Semantics Tools.'' Since my impression is that most field methods courses in American universities don't do much systematic teaching on how to manage your field data, this might be something to pass along to those interested.
