University or Organization: Saint Michael's College Department: School of International Studies Rank of Job: Chair of Department Specialty Areas: Applied Linguistics Description: Saint Michael's College School of International Studies Assistant Professor of TESOL/Applied Linguistics Applications are invited for a tenure-track teaching position at the rank of assistant professor in the School of International Studies (SIS) at Saint Michael's College. Saint Michael's is a liberal arts and sciences college founded by the Society of Saint Edmund with over 45 years of experience in international education. The SIS offers several major programs: a Master's Program in TESL/TEFL, a K-12 ESL Endorsement Program, a TESL/TEFL Diploma Program, an Intensive English Program, an Academic English Program, and a series of undergraduate courses in language and linguistics. The SIS has had and continues to develop cooperative MATESL/TEFL programs abroad in Asia, Europe and South America. The ideal candidate will be willing to travel and teach overseas and have documented success in teaching and teacher training. The candidate should also have experience with/willingness to develop web-based and other distance learning modes of course delivery. General responsibilities include teaching and curriculum planning in all major SIS programs, appropriate research, and service to the department and to the College. A Ph.D. in TESOL, Applied Linguistics or a related field is required by the starting date.
