UNIVERSITY EDUCATION IN IRISH: CHALLENGES AND PERSPECTIVES DUBLIN CITY UNIVERSITY, FEBRUARY 7-8 2003 This conference - "University Education in Irish: challenges and perspectives" - is being organised in the context of the ongoing Irish national debate about how best to develop third-level education through the medium of the Irish language. The conference is being organised by the Irish-medium centre for enterprise education, FIONTAR, at Dublin City University. FIONTAR wishes to contribute to this debate by focussing on the strategies required to serve the scattered Irish language community, on an all-Ireland basis. To this end, we have invited experts dealing with university education in Ireland and specialists from other countries where minority languages are spoken.
