This workshop will gather linguists doing research centred on the
paradigms of universality (Chomsky) or variation (Coseriu, Labov). It
will hopefully promote further development of our research program
'On the Relation between Data and Theory in
Linguistics' (see
http://www.sfb441.uni-tuebingen.de/index-engl.html). The meeting is
designed to establish a fruitful dialogue among participants and to
prepare the ground for future joint projects which we are very much
looking forward to.
