Greetings, Recently I queried this list for advice on software packages capable of analyzing sung speech at phonetic and phonological levels, especially those that can provide accurate pitch tracking. I'd like to summarize the results of this query to the list in case they may be useful to others. Praat was most commonly recommended: http://www.praat.org http://fonsg3.hum.uva.nl/praat http://www.fon.hum.uva.nl/praat/praat5133.html Several respondents also recommended Speech Analyzer from SIL: http://www.sil.org http://www.sil.org/anthro/ethnomusicology.htm http://www.sil.org/computing/speechtools/softdev2/SpeechTools2/SATdownloads2.htm For several links to phonetic analysis software, see http://www.billnet.org/res/ The Department of Speech and Music Acoustics at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has developed the Swell and Soundswell packages; see http://www.hitech.se/ Custom software may be available from LingCom, a company specializing in speech recognition: http://www.lingcom.de Many thanks to all who responded!
