The candidate would be working with the E-BioSci initiative for biological text delivery (www.e-biosci.org). Textual data, such as published papers and their abstracts has a massive untapped potential for knowledge discovery in the bioinformatics field. Qualifications and Experience : The successful candidate will have at least a PhD in a biological science or a Masters (or equivalent) in a computer science related field. He or she will have experience in programming in a language such as C, Java, Perl or Python and database experience, in particular Oracle would be a benefit. He or she will also have an interest in biological research, in particular molecular biology and a desire to engage with the problems of managing texual information with a goal of advancing Life Science research worldwide. Contract : An initial contract of 3 years' duration will be offered to the successful candidate. This can be renewed, depending on circumstances at the time of the review.
